Belindas' Garden Wall
Pastel on Fabriano Paper
I produced this painting a few years ago during a painting day at the house of a fellow member of the Wokingham and District Arts Group. Everyone else was painting flowers but my eye was caught by this semi-abstract composition and the contrasting textures of the lichens, bricks and mortar.

Every now and again the urge to paint a still life seizes me.
Here are some examples:

Winter Posy
Pastel
This was a loose arrangement of winter flowers in this strikingly ugly vase.
Keen horticulturalists may be able to identify the flowers as Viburnum Tinus, Viburnum Fragrans, Mahonia and Rosemary.
These are all from my garden and brighten it up in the early weeks of the year. The rosemary seems to flower all the year round with very few breaks.

Summer Posy
Pastel on Flour Grade sandpaper
Pastel has a particular richness on flour grade sandpaper and can give a smoothness and depth of tone which is hard to achieve in other media.
The flowers depicted include Fennel and Heartsease.

A Nasty Spill
Pastel on Fabriano Paper
An old Boots' medicine bottle and some spilt water. A very simple composition which I painted in the early '90s.
