Malvern Evening Sky
Acrylic on Board
Location: Malvern, Worcestershire
During the time that I have lived and worked in Malvern I have seen many striking skies and sunsets and this was one of the most striking. I was driving home one evening in early Autumn when I saw this.
So I whipped out my easel......no I didn't, I took a photograph and this painting is the result
Available as a 305x220 mm limited edition print

Startling Revelation
Photograph
Location: Near the Three Counties Showground, Malvern
One of Malvern's claims to fame is that there is reputed to be a higher percentage of PhD's per 1000 people in Malvern than anywhere else in the UK.Two of the country's top schools reside in Malvern, a leading defence research company is located there as well as one of the worlds leading companies in the field of particle technology.
As if that wasn't enough, even the sheep can read.

I worked for a Malvern-based company for more than twenty years since 1987 and this is a selection of paintings of scenes in and around Malvern.
Malvern (that's Malvern in Worcestershire in the UK) is famous for its hills and many visitors are awestruck by the views that they get from the top. As you will see from these paintings, dramatic skies are also a feature.

Autumn Mist on Malvern Link Common
Acrylic on board
Location: Malvern Link Common looking towards the Nags Head and the hills shrouded in low cloud.
The real pleasure with this painting was the backlight on the grassy bank in the foreground and getting the mist on the hills.

Upton upon Severn
Medium: Watercolour
Location: Upton on Severn, Worcestershire, England, location of an annual Blues Festival which is growing in stature.
Oh, all right there's a bit of a Jazz Festival as well but, if you have visited the R&B Jones page on this site, you'll know where my loyalties lie.
Owing to the regularity with which it floods, it has been (only half jokingly ) proposed to change its name to "Upton under Severn."
I'm happy to report that, after the floods which washed out the 2007 Blues Festival almost completely, the 2008 Festival was the biggest and best ever.
Available as a 305x227 mm limited edition print

Pinnacle Hill
Medium: Watercolour
Location: Going from the Worcestershire Beacon to the Herefordshire Beacon along the Malverns.
This tree has an agonised look about it which caught my eye.
It is a fairly faithful reproduction of the scene as many inhabitants of Malvern will testify but the shape of the tree leads some people to think that it is simply a figment of my fevered imagination.
I have been reliably informed that the overhang has now been removed "for Health and Safety Reasons".
Will I do a painting of it now that it is Safe? Hmmmm...unlikely.
There is a rumour (ugly of course) that scaffolding is due to be delivered for the Worcestershire Beacon for Health and Safety Reasons.
Available as a 230x305 mm limited edition print
