The Pembrokeshire coast is one of the best-kept secrets of Wales and Tenby is a little gem.
Here are a few paintings of Tenby scenes for you to enjoy:

St Catherines Island Tenby
Medium: Watercolour
Location: Tenby, Pembrokeshire
This painting has an unusual quality init seems to respond to the weather outside the room where it is hung.
When the sun falls on it, the distant beach seems to light up. When the weather is overcast, it is quite moody.
Available as a 350x247mm limited edition print

On the Rocks, Tenby
Medium: Watercolour
Location: Tenby, Pembrokeshire
Like anywhere in the British Isles, Tenby is subject to sudden changes in the weather, many of which give very dramatic skies which threaten a heavy downpour while part of the scene is in bright sunshine.
In this case, the rain didn't materialise
Available as a 305x220 mm limited edition print

Harbour Steps,, Tenby
Medium: Watercolour
Location: Tenby, Pembrokeshire
The backlight on this scene with the deep shadows and the sun catching the lamposts and the water in the foreground made this a very challenging subject to capture.
The secret of emphasising sunlight is to deepen the shadows. In the early stages of the painting, the scene seemed very dull but several applications of shadow later, the sun started to sparkle, particularly on the water.

Low Tide, Tenby Harbour
Medium: 297X420 mm Acrylic on Board
Location: Tenby, Pembrokeshire
I wandered along the beach at low tide and found myself on the mud in the harbour. The colours and the reflections made this almost irresistible.
Available as a 297X210 mm limited edition print

Tenby by Night
Medium: Acrylic
Location: Tenby, Pembrokeshire
This was a real challenge requiring very close observation of the tones. An unexpected problem when it came to photographing the result was that part of the image was glossier than the rest and gave a troublesome reflection. This was cured by applying a coat of matt varnish and the overall increase in depth of tone which resulted has led me to use matt varnish in preference to a gloss finish for all my acrylics.
