Fifield Sunset
Pastel
Location: Fifield, Near Windsor
This wintry scene caught my eye both because of the wintry sky but also because of the oak trees reminiscent of three witches.
Pastels are great for rendering frost on grass as can be seen here.

Autumn Woods
Watercolour
Smell that leafmould!
I have taken hundreds of photographs trying to capture the feeling of woods in autumn.
This painting succeeds where many of my other ones have failed.
Available as a 305x200mm limited edition print

Trees can be a really expressive part of a landscape. Spike Milligan once said that sitting under one was a sure cure for seasickness
Someone else said if you can paint a tree, you can paint a landscape.
Here are a few of mine...

Burnham Beeches After the Rain
Acrylic on Board 18 X 25 inches
It was a toss up whether to have this painting in this gallery or in Rivers Lakes and the Sea.
I was glad I was wearing a good pair of boots when I came across this scene at Burnham Beeches. You might have noticed that I find reflections irresistible.
Available as a 450x324 mm limited edition print

Autumn, Black Swan Lake, Dinton Pastures, Hurst near Reading

Autumn 2008 has been a particularly long and colourful one and this picture of Dinton Pastures has captured the richness of the colours to be seen.

Church of St Mary, Turville, Buckinghamshire
Watercolour
This church will be familiar to the many millions of viewers who hve enjoyed the BBC sitcom "The Vicar of Dibley."
Its latest claim to fame is that it is the last resting place of the playwright John Mortimer who died in January 2009
When I visited it, it was a blaze of Autumn colour as can be seen here.
Available as a 305x219mm limited edition print

Into the Light
Location: Bracknell Mill Pond
Acrylic
I was struck by the quality of the light in this scene with the long shadow cast by the oak tree and the sunlight on the water of the mill pond and the leaves on the left of the picture
Available as a 330x262mm limited edition print

Pinnacle Hill, Malvern
Watercolour
The distorted shape of this tree looks like the stuff of fantasy but it was real.
I say"was" because the Malvern Hills Conservators have now lopped off the overhanging branch on grounds of "Health and Safety".
There is an ugly rumour that their next Health and Safety initiative will be to put scaffolding round the Worcestershire Beacon
Available as a 230x305mm limited edition print

Burnham Beeches
Watercolour
At least two people have identified this as being Burnham Beeches without any prompting.
